You think, therefore it is. Or is it?
Throughout history, there have always been people who were absolutely certain they knew what was possible—and what was impossible.
They condemned philosopher Giordano Bruno, who believed that the Earth was not the center of the universe, he was eventually burned at the stake for heresy.
They resisted Ignaz Semmelweis when he discovered that doctors washing their hands could save the lives of their patients.
They said human beings would never fly.
Then the Wright brothers flew.
They said a man could never run a mile in less than four minutes.
Then, in 1954, Roger Bannister ran it in 3 minutes, 59.4 seconds.
Impossible suddenly became possible.
So I have a question:
WHO THE HELL ARE “THEY”?
Who appointed “them” to decide what humanity can accomplish?
Why do we give so much power to the people who say:
“It can’t be done.”
“People won’t do it.”
“Human beings will never change.”
“You’ll never get everyone together.”
There is a famous saying often attributed to Albert Einstein:
“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity—and I’m not sure about the universe.”
Maybe the greatest form of human stupidity is repeatedly deciding something is impossible before anyone has seriously tried to make it possible.
Today, “they” tell me that getting people around the world together for a common cause is like herding cats.
Impossible.
They tell me humanity is too divided.
Too selfish.
Too political.
Too religious.
Too nationalistic.
Too different.
I DON’T BELIEVE THEM.
I believe there is something far more powerful that every human being shares:
The ability to be kind.
You don’t need permission to be kind.
You don’t need money to be kind.
You don’t need to belong to a particular country, religion, race, political party, or organization to be kind.
You simply have to make a choice.
So I want to prove “them” wrong again.
Not by myself.
Together.
Let’s make history by bringing millions of people together under three simple commitments:
Be kind to yourself.
Be kind to all others and creatures.
Be kind to our Mother Earth.
“They” also say:
“Nothing in life is free.”
We’re going to prove them wrong about that too.
Kindness is free.
A smile is free.
Encouragement is free.
Love is free.
Helping another human being can be free.
And The Foundation for World Harmony is free.
We do not charge people to become Ambassadors of Kindness.
We do not charge for our programs.
We are not selling kindness.
We are giving it away.
And the more we give away, the richer humanity becomes.
So help me prove “them” wrong.
Help me do what they say cannot be done.
Help me unite humanity through something every person on Earth is capable of giving.
KINDNESS.
Let’s make history together.
